Introducing the new ZWO EFW Electronic Filter Wheel 7×2″
The newest EFW (ZWO EFW Elektronic Filter Wheel 7X2″) from ZWO, larger than the previous one, but still low in weight and thin. Only 650 grams and 20 mm thick.
The body is CNC machined from an aircraft aluminum block.
ZWO has decided to make it thinner, where it measures just 20mm on the wheel body. Ideal if you have little back focus.
The heart of our EFW comes from NPM, Japan, where the manufacturer for the stepper motor is reliable and stands for good quality. Guaranteed a long life.
We have two variants
- TYPE1: 5 positions/slots, 2 inch filters can be used. Click here to view this variant.
- TYPE2: 7 positions/slots, 2 inch filters can be used. This product page concerns this variant and therefore with 7 x 2 slots.
The electronic filter wheel can be turned clockwise or counterclockwise for filter selection.

2″Screw-in filters or 50.4mm ± 0.5mm unmounted filters can be used in this filter wheel
Technical information
Multiple cables are not needed to power this wheel, just one USB cable is enough. The power consumption of this EFW is approximately 120 mAh @ 5 V, which can be supplied from the USB hub of ZWO’s cooled CMOS camera. When connected to ASI6200, the distance from the filter to the sensor is approximately 18mm.
The filter wheel is controlled via ASCOM.
Our new RGBL filters are recommended to work with ASI6200MM, they provide almost 1:1:1 RGB color balance.
The requirements below must be met when using 3rd party 2” filters.
