Reflecting telescopes

Mirror telescopes, also called Newtonian telescopes, were invented by the British physicist Sir Isaac Newton. This type of telescope uses a parabolic primary mirror and a plane secondary mirror.

Due to the long focal length, this type of telescope provides excellent images of the moon and planets.
Another advantage of a reflecting telescope is that it does not suffer from chromatic aberration (color errors) in contrast to a refractor telescope (lens telescope).
